Analysis on Lance Armstrong Doping Essay Example for Free

Analysis on Lance Armstrong Doping Essay No, the consequences brought upon Armstrong are completley inappropriate. The actions taken against him undergone by Travis Tygart and USADA are over the top. The fact that Lance doped is undeniable, he did it, but so did every other Tour de France contender and their teammates. Why should the man who won against other dopers have his life ruined? Why should a man who has helped millions of cancer patients have to step down from his organization and pay off the tax breaks of his charity? Well apparently Lance has to. Apparently, he has to pay fines due to his winnings, tax breaks, sponsorship money, etc. All he did was do EPO (like everyone else) and win the hardest cycling race in the world. Seven times. He was driven by his infamous focus on the task at hand, and raise cancer awareness globally. His athletic achievments outside of cycling are now getting the can too, including his win at the Boston Marathon, numerous Ironman 70.3 results, and various others. Mark Cavendish tweeted â€Å"Are people so naive they think cyclings the only sport with a hidden past? Maybe its just the only sport where a hidden pasts come out.† Baseball, football, various other sports have athletes taking performance enhacing drugs, why doesnt Barry Bonds, or Mark McGuires have their reputation tarnished and dragged through the streets? All of Lances sponsors have dropped him, including: Trek Bikes, FRS, Nike, Anheuser-Busch, Oakley, and 24 Hour Fitness. To wrap it up, theres been rumors of a divorce going around. Good job Travis Tygart, Pat McQuaid, Media hounds, and USADA investigators. You couldnt just leave it alone after years and years of failure, you ruined an American heros life and reputation, I hope youre satisfied.

Sex Roles and Gender Bias in Early Childhood Education Essay -- Stereo

Sex role stereotyping and gender bias permeate everyday life. Children learn about sex roles very early in their lives, probably before they are 18 months old, certainly long before they enter school.(Howe, 1). The behaviors that form these sex roles often go unnoticed but their effect is immeasurable. Simple behaviors like: the color coding of infants (blue & pink), the toys children are given, the adjectives used to describe infants (boys: handsome, big, strong; girls: sweet, pretty, precious), and the way we speak to and hold them are but a few of the ways the sex roles are introduced. These behaviors provide the basis for the sex roles and future encouragement from parents and teachers only reinforce the sex roles. Toys, literature, media, and films also encourage sex roles. Males are depicted as "doing", while females are always "receiving." In this paper, 5 articles focusing on sex roles were used. The articles look at the damaging effects of sex role stereotyping, and some ways the sex roles are accentuated in the schools. The research on sex role stereotyping is currently growing. There are many theories regarding its existence. Some attribute the sex roles to the media, literature and society, but it is a combination of all these factors. Despite the best of intentions by parents to not encourage the sex roles, at the time of kindergarten, children will demonstrate behaviors specific to their sex. It is believed that this phenomenon occurs because the children know that they are either a boy or a girl but are trying to figure out exactly what that means (Seid, 114). The behaviors that children seem to learn do have gender specific characteristics. Examples of male appropriate behavior includes: aggression, independence and curiosity. Female behaviors reflect the opposite of the male behaviors: passivity, dependence and timidity (Howe, 3). Parents have a strong impact on the sex roles that children acquire. If the sex roles are stereotypical in the home then the children will imitate the behavior that is observed in the home. Simple, parental behaviors such as who drives and who pays for dinner influence the children’s perceptions of sex roles (Seid, 115). This issue has been extensively researched. Howe states " Schools function to reinforce the sexual stereotypes that children have been taught by their parents, fri... ...nantly dictated by the upper class, Caucasian male. This excludes well over half the population of the nation. Our country is saying that essentially, just a few of us, the elite, will govern and make the rules, but we expect everyone; regardless, of how these rules may affect your life to obey them. That is putting a number of our citizens at a high risk for failure. Society needs to change to accommodate the growing needs of its people. Although most of the research seems to indicate that sex role stereotyping permeates our society and our schools, there are ways to discourage children from falling into the stereotypical roles. It will take the voices of everyone to make a change in the way that society portrays boys and men, girls and women. We are doing an injustice to our children by encouraging these roles. Educators need to become increasingly aware of their practices in their classrooms. It is very easy to fall into the trap of segregating the sexes; all of us have to support and encourage our children that they can do and be anything. When enough people believe that the sex roles can be diminished, then society, the media and the government will follow.

Word Essay

My word is actually a phrase, my phrase is â€Å"sense of humor. † Sense of humor has a few different meanings I think. The dictionary definition for it is; the trait of appreciating and being able to express the humorous. It means to be able to appreciate, understand, and make your own humorous things. Understanding sarcasm in speaking, funny actions, and catching puns, etc. are some examples of things you need a sense of humor to understand. People’s sense of humor are not usually the same. Your opinions and thoughts create your sense of humor so it depends on your personality. So there isn’t a specific, exact sense of humor that you just have or don’t have. I think everyone has a sense of humor even if they don’t understand or appreciate someone else’s humor, they have their own with different things that amuse them. In my opinion the most important characteristic that a person should have to be successful in life is a good sense of humor. One might be intelligent, honest and kind but when all goes wrong the best way to tackle with difficulties is approaching to them optimistically.Especially speaking in terms of personality to get along with others or to break the ice or to hit it off with a new friend or any kind of thing like that. To begin with, the whole existing in the world is a rivalry where really often you are on the weaker side. You can lose your job after years of trying to achieve professional acknowledgement even if you think you’re working as hard as you can or you could fail at an exam before you even got that far. The important thing is never to give up and not to take everything personal.People who manage to overcome the â€Å"being down in the dumps† feeling and get back on to working hard are the ones who succeed. Also, who doesn’t like people that can keep you guessing and laughing? It’s always fun to be around someone that is amusing. If you can amuse your friends, the y will always be delighted to spend their time with you which is a personal achievement I think. Another thing is that communication with others will be a lot more fluent. You become more attractive and   to colleagues and friends and you help to ease stressful situations and help others to be less stressed. Not mentioning that one of the key moments in a love relationship is making your partner laugh as well. A lot of people might say or think that these kind of people cannot approach adequately to a serious situation or crisis and do not have a realistic image of life. But I think that those who claim this should distinguish acting carelessly between acting calmly. Worrying too much will only cause you a headache and you will struggle more until finding the best solution. Having a good sense of humor usually would help keep someone from stressing too quickly or when it won’t do them any good. It’s a proven fact that panicking in a tough situation is not as helpful or efficient as taking on the problem calmly because you can think things through more thoroughly. These kind of people would usually be best prepared for such situations. I really think that the sense of humor is the most important characteristic one should have in order to be successful, maybe not always business wise but for your personal life for sure. A quote to support that is this; â€Å"When life gives you lemons, twist some of the peel into a martini. â€Å"

Service Oriented Architecture Analysis - 874 Words

Regardless of the latest news regarding Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) failures, it is still clearly the choice for system integration and advantage on legacy systems. The expertise needed to put in place SOA will surely change to report developing requirements, but the theory will stay. The legacy systems act as a hub for various clients design distributes applications, which locate information through the five-web endpoint. Legacy systems are referred to large software systems that companies do not understand how to handle but the systems are important to the corporation. The software used in the legacy systems written some time ago with old fashion techniques, it continues to operate. To migrate and modernize the baggage that was used in the past would create a technical and nontechnical demand, with issues from explaining the cost of justifying the expense in doing business with external contractors to using program knowledge and visualization methods (Bennett, 1995).
